Lifetime Networks Every Woman's Film Competition |
To nurture the next generation of great women filmmakers, the Lifetime Movie Network, the Hollywood Reporter, New York Women in Film & Television, the Paley Center for Media, the William Morris Agency, and Women in Film Los Angeles are launching the second annual Every Woman's Film Competition, presented by the Lifetime Movie Network.
The competition is open to all women who are legal U.S. residents and who, as of the date of entry, are at least 18 years of age. Competition entrants will produce short films of three to five minutes in length.
First- and second-place winners, as well as three honorable mentions, will be selected. In addition, the LMN.tv audience will have a chance to vote online for their favorite film and determine the selection of a special LMN.tv Audience Winner. The judge-selected first- and second-place winners will receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively, to advance their film projects as well as exposure on Lifetime Movie Network and LMN.tv and trips to both the Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Breakfast and the Hamptons International Film Festival, where they will be featured guests. The three honorable mention recipients, as well as the favorite filmmaker chosen by the LMN.tv audience, will win $1,000 each.
The Competition runs from March 28, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time ("ET") and continues through July 8, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the "Entry Period"). Winners of the 2008 LMN Film Competition will be announced on the Website and in the press on or about October 1, 2008.

National Hispanic Media Coalition Fall 2008 T.V. Writers Program |

This program is not for beginners. It is for those writers who can write at least one half-hour comedy or one-hour dramatic television script in English within a five-week period of time. The program will take place in Los Angeles, CA from November 8th to December 13th. Each participant is expected to complete at least one script by the end of the five-week session, which will then be read by network executives. Those writers whose scripts show promise will be interviewed and mentored by the network executives with the idea of placing them on a show. Nine of our writers from previous sessions have already been placed. A stipend of $250 per week will be given to each participant. Flight, housing, and meals will be provided.
The program will commence on November 8th. If selected, you must be available to fly and stay in Los Angeles, CA from November 8 —December 13, 2008. Writing samples must be in English and Television scripts are preferred. Please note that writing teams are ineligible. The deadline for submissions is September 2nd. Scripts will be evaluated and program participants announced on October 16th. For writing samples to be considered, please submit the following: Program Application, Resume/Bio, Writing Sample (1) hard copy and saved on a CD (PDF format), Notarized release forms, A paragraph explaining why you want to write for television.
